KYLE POMERLEAU

Kyle Pomerleau graduated third in his class from Pine-Richland High School in June, 2014.  At Pine-Richland, Kyle played cello in the orchestra, as well as bassoon and saxophone in the band. He was an officer of Interact Club, member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, Model UN, Global Relations Club, the fencing team, and the track and field team.

In October of Kyle's senior year, doctors found tumors on his spine and brain. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), an incurable, malignant type of brain cancer. Throughout Kyle's illness, he maintained a positive attitude and his dry sense of humor. He persevered despite many setbacks and wanted to make the most of each day he had.

Kyle planned to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in psychology. His goal was to become a child life specialist in order to help children be more comfortable in hospitals. During his battle, Kyle was supported at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Kyle was known for wearing bright orange shirts and sneakers, since orange was his favorite color.

Throughout his life, Kyle exemplified kindness and uniqueness. He would want others to make the most of their lives by working hard, being considerate to others, facing each challenge with a smile, and not being afraid to be themselves.
